Jean Jaurès was born in 1859 in Castres where he spent his entire childhood. A writer, philosophy teacher, journalist, then member of Parliament, he is the father of socialism in France.

His ideas of truth and justice are always present. Humanist with a visionary thinking, he still remains a major french figure.

Inaugurated by the Président François Mittérand, this museum was opened in 1988. Photos, notice-boards, films, newspaper-pieces, objects and caricatures will allow you to discover Jaures story and his struggles.
