The Militarial – Museum for Peace

Close to Castres and Mazamet, in the village of Boissezon, stands “Le Militarial”, a Memorial Museum for Peace. Located in an old 11th century fort, this museum looks back on the armed conflicts of the 20th century via a multitude of costumes, objects and numerous works. A place to discover.

A duty of memory

First and foremost, the Militarial is a place of remembrance for veterans of the last century’s wars. Remember that there were many resistance fighters in the Tarn maquis during World War II.

Give peace a chance”, as John Lenon sang, is first of all a duty of memory for the museum.

Military objects and technologies

This museum features carefully preserved military costumes. So, this vast space (8 rooms) contains more than 5,000 objects (!): Helmets, lanterns, various weapons… This will provide you an acurate picture of the era… and its technology. A real historical interest!
