Authentic rugby

Once upon a time in the west, or rather in the southwest, a rugby territory, Castres Mazamet. Even if rugby was born in the country of Queen Elizabeth, the Tarnais are doing very well with the oval ball. The Castres Olympique, the Mazamétain Sporting Club and many amateurs live here each week their passion for this beautiful sport. Go !!!

Our legendary club

The territory has a club in France’s ‘Top 14’, Castres Olympique (CO), which plays play in blue and white. The club has been linked for more than 30 years to Mr. Pierre Fabre, founder of the “Pierre Fabre Pharmaceutical Laboratories”, which has over 10,000 employees around the world. When he died in 2013, the rugby stadium in Castres was renamed in his honour.

The Victory of Authenticity

Pierre Fabre is above all the victory of authenticity. The values linked to rugby – authenticity, strength, courage, mutual help, team spirit – are as many values that he knew how to put forward in his company and inthis club so dear in his heart…, to rise them in the French elite, creating a good recognition of the sector on an international scale.

In 2018, for our greatest happiness, the Castres Olympique became, for the 5th time in its history, French Top 14 Champions, winning the Brennus shield !

The show must go on…

All year round, the heart of the city of Castres beats in blue and white for the CO. Flags, pennants or key rings… allow everyone to show his love for the club every day! You can find them directly at the CO Boutique or at the Tourist Office.

3rd half-time

After the matches, the party then continues with the famous 3rd half-time in the bars and nightclubs of the city.

The outsider

Mazamet and its Sporting Club Mazametain is now in Fédérale 1. It was in the first division in the fifties thanks to Lucien Mias who was nicknamed Doctor Pack. He played in the colours of the France team from 1951 to 1959, with 29 selections and 6 as the captain.
