LaPasserelle – Himalayan type footbridge

Since 2018, a passerelle (a Himalayan style footbridge), unique in Occitania, crosses the Arnette gorges in Mazamet. Exceptional views of the valley, access to the medieval village of Hautpoul and thrills are part of the adventure for this family outing “par excellence”!

Great escape

Reaching to the passerelle is, in itself, a nice walk in the Montagne Noire: several routes, with various gradients, are possible. The assent commences from the Jamarié car park on the outskirts of Mazamet, then we climb up through the forest the foothills of the Montagnes. Choose the gradient of the pathway to take you towards the famous passerelle. Remember to take good walking shoes!

Destination Hautpoul

The footbridge gives a new access to the small medieval paradise of Hautpoul : a picturesque village, and one that should fill you with its vestiges of the Middle Ages, its magnificent panoramas & also its craft and souvenir shops ! Not to mention, nearby, the Maison du Bois et du Jouet.

To photograph absolutely!

Some sublime views, especially those from the rock of the Virgin or the terraces of the old castle.

A link between past and modernity

The footbridge thus links a medieval village (Hautpoul) to a modern town (Mazamet). It symbolises on its own: the links that Mazamet maintains with nature and with its past – textile, religious and Cathar – but also its current dynamism and its vision for the future …
