Lo camin de la ceba
“Lo Camin de la Ceba” means the onion path in Occitan … This tradition consists of re-tracing the path, from Mazamet, that the locals used in the last century to find plans for onions in the Aude. Entertainment, local products and conviviality are part of the event. Let us show you the way!
On the way to Aude
For 25 years, we have been commemorating a Sunday in mid-May every year “Lo Camin de la Ceba”, via an Occitan hike and activities. This 18 km trail (with 800 m elevation!) Through the Montagne Noire, connects Mazamet to Labastide-Esparbaïrenque, village Audois. A great opportunity to discover the terrain & superb viewpoints.
Under the sun of conviviality
In a row of “onions” or not, everyone advances at their own pace under the sign of conviviality and sharing. And if we stop, it is only for well-deserved breaks: concerts, producers’ stands, tasting of the traditional egg-tindelous lunch * and animations which are on the program during the different stages of this pleasant day.
* Traditional recipe based of hard-boiled eggs, bacon, tomato sauce and a stuffing composed of breadcrumbs, parsley and milk.
A bridge between traditions and novelties
Small change this year: indeed, the organisers had concocted a path “with little onions”, with an unusual detour over Mazamet’s ‘passerelle’, a new suspension bridge leading the tourist renewal of the valley. A passage in weightlessness before you commence on the road to the Aude.
