The church of Notre-Dame de la Platé was first mentioned in the 11th century.
The present building replaces an older church destroyed by the Protestants during the Wars of Religion, to reinforce the fortified city wall.
Its construction began in 1607 and was extensively remodeled in 1741 in the Jesuit and Baroque style of the Church of the Gesù in Rome. The presbytery was built in 1755, and the bell tower in 1771. Closed for 25 years for restoration, it was returned to worship in 2021, more resplendent than ever!
